The Gary and Jane Somers Scholarship - Nomination Form

This scholarship honours the lasting legacy of Gary Somers, a long-time mentor at BGC Prince County, and his wife Jane, who shares his deep commitment to youth and community. Gary is more than a mentor - he is a steady presence, a compassionate listener, and a role model who believed in showing up, staying kind, and lifting others up. Gary and Jane have the gift of seeing the big picture - the potential of what could be - and always believe in the power of people to grow, change, and lead.

This scholarship is awarded to a youth who reflects those same values: kindness, leadership, a strong commitment, and the ability to see the bigger picture. The recipient makes others feel seen, heard, and supported, leads by example - not for attention, but because it’s the right thing to do, and supports others while believing in potential.
