Howard Waite GoldRush Legacy Scholarship

It’s with the great help of our Sponsors and GoldRush that we are able to provide this $1,000 scholarship to an individual who is pursuing post-secondary studies.

Howard Waite, along with Mel Campbell, founded the BGC Prince County Summerside Club in the early 60’s after they’ve identified youth needed a place to go after school and on weekends. Howard believed that the club would offer youth with a place to belong, a sense of pride in their accomplishments and an opportunity to develop their leadership skills from one year to the next. Howard, a successful businessman and practicing pharmacist for 60 years, strongly valued the importance of education and giving back to the community. He would be proud of this year’s recipient and would wish them much success with their educational goals. He would ask them to remember their experiences while at the club and challenge them, one day, to return to share their successes to the next generation.

We appreciate all the members of our weekly GoldRush draw whose donation is helping change the lives of children and youth by providing them with nutritious snacks, programming, scholarships and so much more!

To apply, we ask that you volunteer/have volunteered a minimum of 30 hours with BGC Prince County within our numerous programs over the last year. For more information, and to get started, you can contact Dara at d.rayner@bgcprincecounty.com.
