Wednesday Basketball Drop-in

Our Wednesday Basketball Drop-In at BGC Summerside is a high-energy, skill-building evening for youth aged 8–12—offering far more than just a game of hoops. With support from the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being, this program promotes physical activity, confidence, and connection through teamwork, coaching, and structured play.

Each session includes:

  • A light supper and hydration

  • Warm-up drills, dynamic and static stretching

  • Team-based scrimmage play

  • Encouragement and guidance from caring staff and coaches

Friday Fun Night!

Friday Fun Night at BGC Summerside is the perfect way for kids aged 7–12 to end the week—with friends, fun, and lots of activity! This free drop-in evening offers something for everyone, whether your child loves to play sports, get creative, cook, or just hang out.

Each session includes:

  • Gym time and active games

  • Arts & crafts and board games

  • Cooking activities and movie nights

  • Outdoor play and holiday-themed dance parties

  • A supper provided to all participants

Let’s Get Social

Let’s Get Social is a fun and friendly playgroup for toddlers aged 1–4 and their parents or caregivers. Focused on active play and early socialization, this program offers families a chance to connect, explore, and make new friends in a welcoming environment.

Each session includes:

  • Play-based activities to support development

  • Opportunities for peer interaction and social connection

  • A healthy snack for toddlers

  • Weekly registration flexibility

  • Saturdays | 9:15–10:15 AM and 10:30–11:30 AM

Get Busy Seniors Wellness

Get Busy is a community-rooted program designed to support the health, confidence, and connection of seniors across Prince County. In a region where nearly 40% of the population is over 55, many older adults—especially those in rural areas—face isolation and mobility challenges. Get Busy responds with inclusive, year-round programming that’s social, engaging, and accessible.

What started as a simple chair yoga class has grown into a vibrant intergenerational initiative that brings seniors and youth together to learn, create, and connect.

Each week, participants can take part in:

  • 🌱 Intergenerational gardening workshops

  • 🍳 Cooking sessions and shared meals

  • 🧑‍💻 Digital literacy training

Stick Together – Sport, Culture & Community

Stick Together is a year-round, community-based program that brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth to learn, play, and grow through the shared power of sport and cultural connection. Co-led by BGC Prince County, Lennox Island First Nation, and the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI, Stick Together offers meaningful opportunities for children and youth to explore reconciliation, identity, teamwork, and tradition.

Through monthly sessions held in Summerside, Wellington, and Lennox Island, the program blends ball hockey, Mi’kmaw cultural education, and intergenerational mentorship. Youth are encouraged to connect with one another, challenge themselves physically, and take pride in who they are and where they come from.

Program Highlights

Each session includes:

  • Ball hockey and team sports that build leadership and respect

  • Hands-on cultural learning (e.g., traditional drumming, language, crafts, games)

  • Storytelling with Elders and knowledge keepers

  • Shared meals and space for reflection

  • Free transportation and sports equipment for all participants

Stick Together creates a welcoming, barrier-free environment for youth of all backgrounds, with a strong focus on accessibility, inclusion, and cultural celebration. Participants hear directly from residential school survivors, Elders, and Indigenous leaders—deepening understanding, building empathy, and encouraging personal and collective growth.

Join us for the fourth annual Stick Together: Family Fun & Hockey Fest—a powerful, one-day celebration of reconciliation through sport, culture, and unity. This signature event brings together hundreds of children, youth, families, Elders, and special guests from across Prince County for a day of joy, learning, and connection.

Co-hosted by BGC Prince County, Lennox Island First Nation, and the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI, the festival features ball hockey games, interactive cultural workshops, guest speakers, live performances, and youth-focused experiences designed to uplift and inspire.

Project Backpack – Nourishing Families

Project Backpack is a holistic, community-rooted food security initiative operated by BGC Prince County, designed to support vulnerable families across Prince County by delivering weekly grocery packages directly to their doorsteps.

Each week, the program provides families with nutritious, easy-to-prepare groceries that help reduce food insecurity, ease financial pressure, and support the mental well-being and academic readiness of children.

More than just food, Project Backpack is about stability, dignity, and connection. The program is offered confidentially and free of charge, with no income verification or paperwork required. Families receive consistent support in a way that is respectful, reliable, and rooted in trust.

  • Nutrient-rich food items to support full meals for children and families

  • Healthy snacks, breakfast and lunch options

  • Occasionally includes gift cards, or seasonal add-ons

  • Delivered weekly to ensure families can plan with confidence
