Mel Campbell Keystone Scholarship

Mel Campbell was an individual who believed that positive leadership in one’s community can make a significant impact. He lead by example by becoming involved with the BGC Prince County Summerside Club because he felt there was a need to keep our community’s children and youth active in a safe environment. He stressed the importance of giving back to our community and that if you work hard for your community that it would make it a better place for everyone to live. He believed that Summerside was such a great place to live because of the community’s involvement in making it that way. Mr. Campbell taught that everyone should have dreams and that everyone should strive to attain those dreams. He always said “you should always strive to better yourself and help others along the way”. Mel has played a vital role in keeping the BGC Prince County Summerside Club in operation. If it were not for Mel and his family, there would not be a place in our community where children and youth can go to feel like they belong or given the opportunity to succeed.

This scholarship will be awarded to an individual/ or individuals* who demonstrates some of the amazing characteristics Mel demonstrated, and that his family continues to demonstrate to this day. Mel thought very highly on the importance of education and learning as much as you can. He always said “the more you know, the more you do not know” and “every day is a learning experience” and it is for these reasons, with the amazing support of Mel Campbell’s family, that we are able to provide this outstanding scholarship opportunity yearly.
